Sarajevo, 1 October 2012 – “The Operational Plan developed for security arrangements of the Inter-Religious Conference, held in Sarajevo recently, was fully implemented in accordance with the best policing practices. The key to success of this operation, coordinated by the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH, was an excellent cooperation and exchange of information between the organiser and all the relevant law enforcement agencies involved at all times,” reads the post-analysis report about security arrangements of this high-level gathering. “From the policing point of view, this was a highly complex task. In addition to the highest religious leaders of the world, the organiser expected a number of other VIPs including Presidents and Prime Ministers,” said Himzo Selimović, Director of the Directorate.

The Directorate has therefore had to coordinate activities of a number of stakeholders at both national and international level. “It was of a high importance to maintain a constant communication and exchange of information between the law enforcement agencies, permanent contact with the Intelligence Security Agency of BIH and relevant security services of the countries whose highest officials were scheduled to come,” added Selimović.

The post-analysis phase is important after such a complex security undertaking which relies on the involvement of a number of stakeholders. It will be carried out for the upcoming tasks too.

Inter-Religious Conference was held in a safe environment and with a dignity that such gatherings should have. “In the end, allow me to thank the officials of the Intelligence Security Agency of BIH, SIPA, Border Police, Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Ministry of Defense of BIH, Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, Federal Administration of Police, Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, as well as fire-fighters and ambulance for their valuable contribution in making this a success,” said Selimović, adding: “We have once again demonstrated maturity and professionalism,” concluded Selimović.
