Officials of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina paid a study visit to Slovenian counterparts from 25 to 30 May 2013 upon the invitation of the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Slovenia.
The five-day programme enabled Directorate representatives to learn more about the Slovenian Police model of organisation and to gain a first-hand insight into their work with a particular focus on the international police cooperation.
Briefings on the international police cooperation through the presentation of work of SIRENE, Interpol, Europol, liaison officers, bi-lateral and multi-lateral cooperation raised attention and questions on tools and techniques used in day-to-day operations.
This was complemented with the presentations on the information flow and data exchange with the end-users in and outside of the country, and how is the IT police support system organised to assist this process.
The visit to Joint Centre for Police and Custom Cooperation located in the Border Crossing Dolga offered a chance to see in practice how police officers from four countries Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and Croatia jointly work on combating organized trans-border crime, illegal migration, trafficking in human beings, stolen cars and international terrorism.
The study visit was hosted in scope of the Twinning Project “Support to the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies”, which aims at strengthening the Directorates capacities in the international police cooperation, which covers the segment of international information exchange.
