A multi-day training course entitled "Fight against Counterfeiting of European Currency" was held at the Directorate's premises. The training was organized with the support of the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo and the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, as part of the upcoming initiative of the European Commission program called "Pericles". The training was conducted by two specialized instructors of the Italian Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Command from Unit of the Carabinieri Corps specialized in investigations into counterfeit money, as the National Competent Authority for protection of the Euro.
The training was attended by police officers from state law enforcement agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely SIPA BiH, AFIV BiH, FMoI, MoI RS, MoI BPK, MoI USK, MoI SBK, MoI ZE-DO, MoI KS and DKPT BiH, and the training was organized to improve their professional skills and cooperation in joint operations.
Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH Enes Karić greeted all present and welcomed them, emphasizing the importance of the topic, as well as the significance of the training for all police structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The training was implemented using the "train the trainers" method, so that trained police officers could further transfer the acquired knowledge and skills. During the training, the technical and security features of euro banknotes/coins were presented, as well as the counterfeiting techniques most commonly used by counterfeiters.
The training was successfully completed and aimed to prevent and combat counterfeiting and related fraud, preserve the integrity of euro banknotes and coins, thereby strengthening the trust of citizens and businesses in the genuineness of these banknotes and coins and therefore enhancing the trust in the EU economy, ensuring the sustainability of public finances, as well as the protection of euro banknotes and coins.
On the last day of the training, police officers from all over BiH who attended the training received valuable certificates of successful completion of the training.
