At the invitation of the General Director of Police of the Republic of Turkey a delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H led by Director Vilić visited the National Police of the Republic of Turkey, based in Ankara on 16.6.2022.
During the meeting with the General Director of Police Mr. Aktash Mehmet both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation so far in the fight against all forms of crime, as well as the readiness to expand and improve their cooperation. Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H Mirsad Vilić expressed special gratitude for the continuous support of the police of the Republic of Turkey in the field of training of police officers from B&H in Turkey. Mr. Aktash expressed readiness to continue this form of cooperation and to increase the number of trainings.
The delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H visited the headquarters of the Special Police Operations Department of the Republic of Turkey, where they attended the presentation of the latest technical and tactical operational achievements one of the best equipped and trained special operations units in the world.
In addition, a meeting was held with the Director of the Public Order Department of the Police of the Republic of Turkey, which performs 80% of all activities in the fight against crime. Within this Department there is a single contact point for international police cooperation. It was stated that the cooperation is at a satisfactory level. Given the similar challenges in the fight against crime, experiences and best practices were exchanged and further cooperation was agreed upon.
The delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H also visited the headquarters of the Intelligence Service of the Republic of Turkey, where a meeting with the Director of the Service and his associates, who presented security challenges this agency faces in the fight against terrorism was held.
The Director of Intelligence Service offered the possibility of organizing trainings for officers of B&H agencies in the field of combating terrorism and cybercrime.
During this meeting to the mutual satisfaction a return visit of the Turkish police delegation led by Director Aktash Mehmet was arranged.
Also within this visit, the delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H visited 4 officers of the Directorate who are currently participating in training in Ankara.
