The World Police and Fire Games 2022 took place in Rotterdam where more than 10 000 athletes from 70 countries competed in various sports.
Anes Ličina, police officer of the Directorate for Coordination of the Police Bodies of B&H, was the only representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina at these Games in judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
In the category -94.1 of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Anes Ličina defeated the representative of Great Britain in the semi-final, only to hand over the final match without a fight due to the insufficiently repaired rib injury, with which he came to Rotterdam, as well as the repeated injury during the semi-final match.
“First of all, I have to thank Mr Mirsad Vilić, director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of B&H, who strongly supports me, as well as other athletes, and he shows consideration for all sports activities practiced by the members of the Directorate. I am happy that I managed to win the silver medal, but at the same time, I regret not being able to compete in judo that is on schedule for two days. The official doctor at the medical centre recommended that I should not continue with the fight today, that is why I handed over the final match” said Anes Ličina.
